Alexandre Lacazette has signed a 5yr contract to become Arsenal’s record signing, joining from Lyon in a deal worth €53m (£45m) rising to €60m (£52m).
Alexandre finished with 100 Ligue 1 goals for his hometown club – including 91 over the past four seasons, more than any other player in the division.
In Europe’s top-five leagues, the only players to better his total are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski and Gonzalo Higuain. Last season, Lacazette scored 28 goals in 30 Ligue 1 matches – at a rate of one every 86 minutes.
He also had a shot conversion rate of 33.33 per cent – the second best of any player in Europe’s biggest five leagues.
His record of 28 league goals last term was more than the combined tally of Arsenal quartet Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez.

Manager Arsene Wenger : “We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher.
“As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”
